I Am Not Goofy

I am not goofy.
I furrow my brow when I can't hear the question.
Bowing my head at the realization
That Others don't think practically.

I thought I had found You.
You, the underbelly of a cartoon character
The pencil shavings before the prize.

The smudge on your hand you just can't wipe off.

But magic was once drawn in black and white
Mickey Mouse once whistled a simple tune
And I'm a simple girl, and you're a simple guy
Or so it seems.

So let me get wasted on white wine and expectations
And whisper sweet nothings to the starless night
That constant looming, licking lonely
The dark to swallow my coffin, singular.

And I'll still ride your stagnant rollercoaster
The main attraction of my main attraction
And sit there, staring, with silent screams
Cuz Magic was once drawn in black and white.
